Michael tried to think quickly of something to tell Lucifer. He didn’t want to say something that would make Lucifer question his own blade. “This…this is a practice blade.” Michael said to him. “I use it when I’m practicing so nothing happens to my real one.”

“Oh,” said Lucifer, nodding. “‘Cause-‘Cause your other one is—it’s im-impor—It’s special.” It made sense to the young archangel; he knew how important Michael’s sword was, a gift from their Father and everything. Lucifer waved his blade around in front of him. “So now you’s gonna teach me stuffs, Mikey?”

Michael grinned wide. “Yeah, exactly.” He said. “I’ll teach you whatever you want to know, Luce.” Michael twirled his blade around his hand in a fancy move and winked at Lucifer.

Lucifer grinned as he watched his older brother, just like he always did when Michael would practice or train and Lucifer grew bored wanted to spend time with the elder angel. “I’s wanna knows ev’ryt’ing!” he said, his arms going out wide, the blade almost slipping from his grip in Lucifer’s excitement.

“You sure can.” Michael smiled. “If you want I can teach you how to use it.” Michael winked at the smaller angel. He could teach Lucifer a few blocking techniques and maybe a bit of sparring. Try to make it so Lucifer could be as safe as possible with his new toy. Plus, spending quality time with his brother was always a good thing.

“Really? You’s will?” Lucifer lit up, his eyes bright as he grinned up at Michael. The sword was held down at his side now, his little grip still tight around the handle. “You’s gonna teached me to be a sold’er, Mikey?”

“Sure thing.” Michael grinned. The fact that he was going to teach a fledgling to be a soldier, and that said fledgling was very excited about it, didn’t register as wrong to Michael. He was an Angel of the Lord, God’s soldier, its all he has ever been. “You’ll be the best soldier ever.”

He smiled. “Can’s we starts now? So-so I can gets really good?” Lucifer had seen his older brothers with their weapons, had watched them training, and he wanted to be like them. Wanted to be able to fight just as well as his older siblings. And if anyone could teach him how to do that, it was Michael, because Michael was the best—and Michael always taught him everything anyway.

Michael laughed. “Of course we can start now.” He said. Michael was about to make his own blade appear, but then figured he should probably make himself a fake one too, to practice with Lucifer with. Michael had impeccable control of his blade, but he figured, rather safe than sorry. So Michael made himself a blade like Lucifer’s, only larger so it would fit his hand.

Lucifer was excited, and he watched as Michael made a blade of his own appear—except it wasn’t the one he was used to seeing. He frowned, his head tilting. “Why’s you not using your normal one?” he asked, his own small blade held loosely down at his side, small fingers still curled around the handle. “That’s-That’s not the same ones Dad’s give you, Mikey.” Lucifer pointed at the sword Michael held, lifting his own blade to point in his brother’s direction.
